Due to the illness of one of the music section adjudicators, Dr John Bishop, another had to be found quickly for the currently-running Saltash music, speech and drama festival.

Fiona Chryssides stepped into the breach to judge the instrumental section, which began on Monday evening. Born in Scotland she studied the piano with Raymond O'Connell at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and became a piano accompanist for singers and instrumentalists. She moved to Plymouth in l972, and from l988-92 was director of the University of Plymouth's choral society and orchestra. She regularly examines for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in the UK and abroad.
