Commuters and councillors have been opposing plans to bring in new car parking charges at a railway station in South East Cornwall.

The train operator, First Great Western (FGW) want to introduce charges in Liskeard.

Meanwhile, Mike George, Caradon councillor for Liskeard South, has urged motorists not to park on the roads around the car park when the charges come in after Sunday, February 1.

He said: 'Only two minutes' walk from the station, Caradon has a long-stay car park, with an all-day charge of £1.

'There is more than enough capacity in Rapsons car park in Station Road to assist rail users.

'We urge rail users who want to boycott the station car park, not to park on the roads, as we do not want to paint Liskeard with yellow lines.'
