A LOCAL group set up Torpoint Community Events Ltd last year to try and improve the quality of the festive decorations and to act as an umbrella company for other public events ensuring adequate public liability insurance. The company is in the process of applying for charity status, with the aim that all monies are ploughed back in to assisting funding for further events. The company have plans in place and are rolling these out to the general public at the council chambers between Monday, June 11, and Friday, June 15, at 7.30pm. Organiser John Tivnan said: 'All we are asking is for people to give up an hour of their time to see what we want to do. Ultimately our aim is to raise the profile of Torpoint as a community, making it a place we are proud of.'
