It’s all happening in Looe today with an action-packed programme of free marine-themed activities, music, food and fun lined up for the Looe Festival of the Sea. The day-long festival, during the bank holiday weekend, will run from 10am to 8pm at sites along the quaysides, on the seafront and beach, and at venues across the town. The themes include: safety at sea; sustainable Cornish seafood; and reducing pollution and taking care of the marine environment and wildlife. A festival stage, organised by Looe Marine Conservation Group, will provide an educational platform to focus on Looe’s marine environment and relationship with the sea. In collaboration with the festival, and to mark 150 years since Looe’s first lifeboat arrived, there will be an air-sea rescue display at 2pm in Looe Bay and around the Banjo Pier.
