THOUSANDS of revellers rocked to the beat at the second Looe Music Festival, which has been hailed a phenomenal success.
Tickets to the event were sold out to capacity and every hotel was full.
'There wasn't a room to be had anywhere in Looe,' said Neil Hipkiss, part of the small band of festival organisers.
'After seven months of preparation we are now all totally shattered, but it was worth it. The crowds and the atmosphere were amazing and we have had excellent reports back from the performers, including the headliners.'
He said the lead singer of Levellers, playing to an audience of thousands on the beach on Saturday night had shouted to the crowd: 'I love this place I'm going to buy a house here.'
Throughout the three days Neil said there were 114 gigs played on the stages, in the pubs and around the streets.
'Unfortunately the appalling weather on Sunday meant the rain stopped play for two bands in the afternoon, but things had improved enough for The Stranglers to end the festival in spectacular style,' said Neil.
'The pubs and restaurants were full to capacity throughout, and The Ship Inn has reported it was like having three New Year's Eves in one weekend. We are also pleased to say that the police reported less trouble than on an average Saturday night.'
Tanya Brittain said of the financial situation of the festival: 'It's going to be tight but it looks like we are going to break even. We need to keep fundraising to make the Looe Festival a sustainable event, and as a valuable boost to the local economy.'
