Gritters have been working throughout the night to deal with the persistent snow showers and keep the county's A and B road network open. But the severity of the weather has meant that residential estate roads, car parks and pavements have not been treated in most places.
Fears are mounting that Cornwall's supply of salt and grit will run out while the snow continues to fall.
Cornwall Council's Highways Department admitted on Wednesday that it was concerned about the level of salt stocks in the county. An order of around 4,000 tonnes of salt is expected to be shipped to Cornwall by the middle of next week. However, if the current extreme weather continues, stocks may have run out before the new batch arrives.
