A farmhouse was extensively damaged by fire on Tuesday afternoon.

The ground floor of the building in Luccombe, near Tideford, was well alight and the fire had spread to the first floor, said a fire brigade spokesperson

The fire crews from Liskeard and Saltash who initially went to the scene at 1.51pm found the farmhouse was well alight and asked for a further appliance and a water carrier to be sent to help them.

One appliance from Callington and the water carrier from the Devon and Somerset brigade were dispatched, along with the command support unit from Launceston and an operational support unit from St Austell.

The blaze was extinguished by 5pm but fire crews remained on scene damping down hot spots.
