A meeting hosted by the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association this week at the showground’s Pavilion Centre aimed to highlight help available to farmers facing stresses in the under-pressure industry.

The five farm help charities that provide help and assistance within Cornwall to the agricultural community outlined what they do to an invited audience of more than 100 representatives from various allied businesses and organisations that work closely with the industry.

The Addington Fund, Farming Community Network, Farm Cornwall, The Prince’s Countryside Fund and R.A.B.I can between them offer a wide range of practical, emotional and financial assistance to farming families if they need it.

The idea, said Christopher Riddle, secretary of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association who organised the event, was to educate those who work closely with farmers about what help was currently available and where to find it.
