A new event in Lostwithiel could founder if it isn’t supported by enough local people. The Hokey Cokey swim/wade/run is a fun race for all the family and is set to take place in a few weeks’ time on Charity Day, Sunday, July 17. A children’s race will see youngsters running around the King George V Playing Fields before swimming or wading downstream. This will be followed by the exciting adults’ race, a longer version of the same concept, said Denis Mitchell, of Lostwithiel Rotary Club, which organises the carnival. ‘The event is being organised by the Mad Hatter Sports Event Team,’ said Mr Mitchell. ‘They are well known both in the area and around the country for their quirky take on fun events, and they have offered to run this event for Lostwithiel Rotary Club as an added attraction to the charity afternoon. Keen ‘We are really keen for this fun event to go ahead, but we need more entrants.’ People wishing to sign up for the fun races should visit the Mad Hatter website at www.madhattersportsevents. co.uk
