Plans for Council Tax increases, a new fund for upgrades to local roads, and improvements to bus services will all be discussed at a meeting tomorrow (Thursday November 29).
Residents of Callington and the surrounding parishes of Calstock, Linkinhorne, Pillaton, South Hill, St Dominic, St Ive, St Mellion and Stoke Climsland are encouraged to attend the Caradon Community Network meeting, which will take place at Callington Town Hall from 6.30pm.
Council Leader Adam Paynter will be attending the meeting to discuss a proposed 3.99 percent increase in council tax which aims to protect vulnerable people and help ensure the Council can continue to deliver vital services to residents.?
During the meeting the panel will also be giving further consideration to proposals from parish councils in the area for local highway improvements. This is through the new Community Network Highways Scheme, which gives community network panels a budget of £50,000 a year for highways improvements in their area.?There will also be a presentation from the One Public Transport System for Cornwall project team on draft proposals to improve local public transport infrastructure, in relation to bus stops and real time passenger information displays.
Councillor Carl Hearn, chairman of the Caradon Community Network Panel, said: ‘Cornwall Council’s budget plans are important to everyone, and I encourage residents to come along to the meeting to learn about these and give their views.
‘We include an opportunity for members of the public to speak at all our meetings and welcome their involvement.’
