Town Councillors from Liskeard and friends from further afield will gather to celebrate the life of a former member who served for 50 years.
Roger Holmes died on October 22 at the age of 74.
A twice-serving mayor of Liskeard, Roger had represented the town on both Cornwall Council and the former Caradon District Council, and was part of the South East Cornwall Local Action Group.
His passionate belief in connections and cooperation between Cornwall and Brittany led to Roger’s long association with the inter-celtic festival in Lorient, and to his helping to found Liskeard’s twinning link with Quimperle in the early 1970s.
An event to celebrate Roger’s life will be held at Liskeard Public Hall today between 3-5pm, and all who would like to pay their respects or share stories are invited to attend.
