THE Looe Enterprise Centre is offering free training to people who are either unemployed or 'not in the workforce'. This could include 'stay-at-home' parents or retired people. The aim of the offer is to provide computer-based training, whether for fun or for work to residents of Looe and the surrounding villages of Pelynt, Lanreath, Duloe, Polperro, Widegates and Downderry. Plans also include the possibility of providing creche facilities to allow parents to study while their children are being looked after, an outreach programme to bring computer training to the surrounding villages and basic literacy and numeracy training. Sessions offered include how to send e-mails and access the internet, manipulate digital photographs, set up spreadsheets and manage databases, genealogy, greeting card design and even websites. Formal qualification courses offered include European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), CLAIT, plus health and safety awareness and basic food hygiene certification.
