SOUTH East Cornwall Liberal Democrats have organised a sponsored walk this weekend through the grounds and woods of Lanhydrock House.
The walk will head to Respryn Bridge before doubling back to the National Trust-owned mansion and will take place on Sunday (August 5) at 11am.
Organiser, walk guide and Cornwall Councillor for Looe West Edwina Hannaford said: ‘The walk begins in the Lanhydrock main car park but follows paths away from the house into Hart Wood and through the broadleaf woodland to reach the horse and coach route from Lanhydrock to the railway station.
‘The walk then continues along the beautiful River Fowey to Respryn Bridge and follows the driveway to the gatehouse of the Lanhydrock park. From here the route turns through the Great Wood and follows the track towards Maudlin to return via the woodland gardens and Lanhydrock House.’
The route totals approximately 3.8 miles.
Prospective Parliamentary candidate for the South East Cornwall constituency Colin Martin said: ‘The route takes you through some of the most stunning Cornish countryside on the northern edge of my Cornwall Council division of Lostwithiel.
‘It’s a chance to make new friends, get some gentle exercise and enjoy the beauty of Cornwall.’
Walkers should meet in the Lanhydrock car park, where parking charges apply.
