A 13-year-old boy from Bodmin will attempt to set a new world record, cycling 3,000 miles across Australia with the help of famous South East Cornwall endurance athlete Bob Brown.

Beginning in January 2017, Siam Juntakeret, a member of the St Petroc’s Dragons Triathlon Club, will aim to cycle from Sydney to Perth in just 32 days, and set a new record for the fastest crossing of Australia on a bike by a child.

Siam is raising money for Sport Relief and is also hoping to inspire other youngsters to go outdoors and seek adventure.

His mum, Tania, will be accompanying Siam on the trip, along with three support riders including his coach and renowned Stoke Climsland endurance athlete Bob Brown.

He is looking for Cornish companies to help fund the cycle. If interested please contact Tania at [email protected]

The organiser of the challenge, Bob, is the only person in history to have both run and cycled across Australia, as well as being the first Briton to win the Run Across the USA Race.

Bob has space for one more support rider to accompany them to Australia. If anyone is interested, please contact Bob at [email protected]
