THE musical talents of an 11-year-old Liskeard girl have earned her selection to the under-12 National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain in its 30th anniversary year. Emma Murray, who won a music scholarship to Polwhele House School, Truro, three years ago, will play the viola for the acclaimed orchestra. She was among more than 800 children nationwide, aged seven to 14, who auditioned for one of the five age-banded orchestras. Emma, previously a pupil of St Neot Primary School, will benefit from high-class tuition at a week-long residential course in August. She will also take part in an NCO gala concert for all five orchestras at Birmingham Symphony Hall on August 30. 'I am very much looking forward to a wonderful opportunity to improve my playing and make new friends,' said Emma, who also plays the violin and piano, and sings in the Polwhele House Choir. Headmaster Jo Mason said: 'She has a great passion for music and we are all very proud of her.'
