CHILDREN at a tiny village school have put out an appeal to help them complete a sporting display.
Trewidland Primary School only has 16 pupils on the roll, but like many schools around the country, they are collecting stickers from supermarket Aldi.
Each sticker features a photo and statistics about a British sportsman or woman. Once schools have completed their poster with 300 stickers, they will receive sports kit and can enter into a competition to win £20,000 cash.
Vicky Fraser is on the PTA at Trewidland and said: ‘The pupils have made it their mission to try and complete the poster - the parents of the children both past and present have all tried so hard to get stickers, but we needed extra help.’
Olive and Co Cafe were among those to put out the word on social media, and set up a donation jar in their cafe, and before long, the school had received two envelopes in the post, both full of stickers.
Another primary school locally which had finished its own poster also donated some stickers.
Now the children have just a handful of athletes left to collect - but they need to achieve it before the stickers stop being distributed.
‘We haven’t completed the poster yet but we are so close and with the stickers only being available until November 3rd time is running out for our little school,’ said Vicky.
‘The children are very excited seeing how close we are now and have really enjoyed seeing the poster filling up.’
