PRIMARY schools that are part of the Kernow Learning Trust have not opened to wider groups of pupils this week as the Trust takes a more cautious approach than other educational providers.
Beacon Academy in Bodmin and Upton Cross ACE Academy will not be allowing pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 back into class until June 15 at the earliest. Many primary schools in Cornwall have begun opening to these groups of children this week.
In a letter to parents, head of Beacon Academy Kaye Haywood said that over the next two weeks the school would be taking note of scientific advice and monitoring the Covid-19 R rate in the local area. She said the school would see how the new Test and Trace system is working locally, while continuing to train all staff in the new arrangements.
