An inspiring teacher from Torpoint Community College has been put forward by her students for the 2016 Cornwall Teacher Awards. Science and psychology teacher Lisa McCarthy is one of three Cornish staff in the running for the title of ‘Student Nominated Teacher of the Year’. Also among the nominees in various categories are a newly-qualified teacher working at Liskeard School and Community College, and a volunteer at Sir Robert Geffery’s School in Landrake. Star of the Channel 4 series Educating Essex and ‘UK’s most famous headteacher’ Vic Goddard will be speaking at the awards ceremony, which is set to be held at Truro Cathedral in April. The Cornwall Teacher Awards are being staged by education marketing and PR company EMPRA.
