Students rose to the challenge of helping deliver an array of cookery demonstrations at the largest free food and drink celebration in the South West .

At Plymouth’s FlavourFest, stand sponsors and event partners Cornwall College Saltash provided staff and students to help with the cookery demonstrations on the main stage, alongside some of the top names in the business.

Chloe Spear, who is studying level 3 professional cookery, said it was a ‘fantastic experience’ to work with chefs including John Torode, The Tanner Brothers and Jacques Marchal.

‘We are so lucky on the course to have the opportunity to make these contacts in industry,’ Chloe said.

‘This was my second year working at Flavour Fest and it was also great to see what happens behind the scenes and not just on the stage.’

The college’s team lead for professional cookery, Chris Penk, said: ‘Flavour Fest is a high profile event that allows our students to showcase their skills to lots of people.

‘It is the perfect opportunity for us to promote the opportunities we have for anyone interested in catering or hospitality.’
