A Torpoint primary school has been awarded £250 in a Dragon’s Den-style competition.

In the ThinkBIG contest, pupils were asked to come up with ideas on how they would spend money to improve one aspect of school life.

The competition was organised by the Cornwall Association of Primary Heads (CAPH) in partnership with the education team at Michelmores solicitors.

Pupils at Carbeile Junior School and Sennen Primary were runners-up, while overall winners were Otterham.

The Carbeile youngsters came up with the concept of a ‘reading caterpillar’ in the school library – a brightly coloured, comfortable area of seating that can be split into smaller sections for children to read in groups.

Now the pupils have been given £250 to make their idea a reality.
