CHILDREN have been facing up to their studies on an innovative art project.
Sean Hewitt, an artist with the South West Academy for Fine and Applied Arts, has been working with children on a portrait project called ‘Let’s Face It’.
The project spans three schools in the Bridge Schools Trust at St Cleer Primary, Looe Primary and Wadebridge.
At St Cleer, Sean has been working closely with the children in Year 3 classes on the project throughout the whole of the Easter Term.
The work has focused on portraits, with the children producing not only their own highly individual work, but also some large ambitious group art as well.
Taking their own teachers as inspiration, they have produced some stunning painted portraits, and the results of their project have been on display to the public in Stuart House, Liskeard.
Sean said: ‘It never ceases to amaze me what children can do in their art work and just how confident and competent they can become.
‘They should be very proud of what they have produced. This is work of real excellence and staggering when you consider that they are only seven or eight years old.’
