DUCHY College is seeking horses to live at the College’s rural campus to help students in their training.

The equine yard staff at Stoke Climsland are hard at work preparing for the new groups of students and horses, and are looking for a variety of all-rounders or ex-competition horses to join the five-star working livery.

Thanking all the current working livery horse owners for their support in what has been ’an unusal year’, Equine and Animal curriculum manager Caz Addy said: ’The horses and students make significant progress together under the guidance of our experienced equine teaching team, and thrive in the environment we create for them.’

Prices for horses start from only £20 per week and include care, bedding, forage and shoeing.

Equine and Animal centre manager, Jo Challacombe, said the horses are managed on a need-led basis regarding training, feed, appropriate stabling and management.

’Young or green horses are educated and older horses maintained with all being respected for what they need and can offer,’ she explained.

’All types of horse are considered on application and owners are welcome to hack and compete with their horse while they are on working livery at the College.’

Horses and students alike benefit greatly from the arrangement, said head of Campus Jamie Crisp: while the students gain invaluable experience, the animals experience use of a solarium, horse-walker, three riding surfaces, hacking, securely fenced fields and excellent care.
