Staff and students at Liskeard School and Community College recently hosted the charity Brook Cornwall for a Health Awareness Day. The two-day event was presented to students in Year 10 and Brook, which offers sexual health advice for young people under 25, ran a number of different activities in the Active Learning Centre with student-led topics. These included providing information about sexually-transmitted infections (STIs), discussions about LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) issues, safe sex and the importance of a person not feeling pressured into doing anything they don’t want to do. Interactive discussions took place regarding each topic. Head of PSCHE Emily Lofthouse said: ‘Year 10 were mature and engaged throughout and Brook did a great job. I look forward to having them back next year.’
