Cornwall’s Army Museum Bodmin Keep is offering lots of fun and educational ways for parents and kids to learn about VE Day.
To help with learning at home, there’s series of free activity sheets called Keep Kids, and the latest edition is on the museum’s website https://bodminkeep.org/schools/learning-resources-2/
For anyone who’d like to experience a bit of World War 2 glamour, Bodmin make-up artist Carolyn Maddox has created a 1940s hair and make-up styling video. This step-by-step guide to vintage make-up and hair styling will be available on the museum’s YouTube Channel from Tuesday 5th May. Just search for the Bodmin Keep channel on YouTube.
Continuing the World War 2 theme, the museum also has a new online photographic exhibition all about Bodmin in World War 2. Bodmin was hugely affected during WWII and this exhibition gives an insight in to life at this time, from the departure of the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry Regiment for war, to the arrival of the Americans at Bodmin Keep, and from the devastation of the bombing of Bodmin to the celebration of victory in 1945. The exhibition can be visited on the museum website from today at https://bodminkeep.org/museum-history/exhibitions/
