The Eden Project is hosting an interactive extravaganza exploring the science of gases at its next WOW! Weekend on April 28 and 29.
There will be a family show, experiments and hands-on activities including a hydrogen-powered doll’s house and demonstration of the freezing temperatures of liquid nitrogen.
The Secret World of Gases is designed to engage school-age children and their families with the fascinating stories and science of gases.
Eden’s narrators will perform a family science show in the Mediterranean Biome and there will be hydrogen-powered remote-controlled cars, a dry ice demonstration and an experiment using a cola bottle, sweets and a balloon.
The Secret World of Gases is a national programme led by the UK Association for Science and Discovery Centres (ASDC) with scientific expertise from the Royal Society of Chemistry and industrial and medical gases company BOC, part of the Linde Group.
Chris Bisson, Eden’s programme manager for the Secret World of Gases, said: ‘All the hands-on activities are designed to encourage young people to be curious and continue to explore and ask questions about gases.’
Activities are fun for all but recommended for families with children aged six to 11.
