Engineering students from Truro and Penwith College have been praised for the exceptionally high standard of their final year projects.
Prototypes tested included a defibrillator delivery drone, a programmable robotic arm and an electric golf scooter.
Engineering lecturer Jon Richards said he was very proud of his students and thanked those who had taken time to give feedback on the projects.
’It’s vital that students gain real-world feedback from those who work in the fields in which their projects would be utilised,’ he said.
Richards also asserted the importance for students to build a real version of their design.
’They use the expertise they have picked up from the course including modules on CAD, engineering drawing, maths, material science and bring it all together to fabricate and test the final product,’ he explained.
’The standard of projects has been really good this year and the complexity of some of them has gone through the roof.’
The students are now awaiting results.
