A unique degree for those interested in running an equine business has been launched in the South West.

Duchy Colleges’ Equine Enterprise Management degree will role out in September and is offered in conjunction with the University of Plymouth.

Graduates will be trained in a wide range of areas including managing horse welfare, business development, marketing and team management.

Lead for Equine at Duchy College, Alison Abbey said: ‘Combining equine health, biomechanics and psychology with established and extensive research opportunities provides an exciting programme relevant to the equine industry.’

The course also covers equine handling skills, resource management, knowledge of legal requirements and financial implications within equine enterprise management and the ability to communicate and negotiate with others.
