Home-made apple pie, hamburgers and Boston beans were served up by children at Darite Primary School at an ‘American Diner’ staged to coincide with the presidential election in the USA.

Pupils in Class 3 cooked a feast of American cuisine for parents and friends to sample as they browsed election posters and leaflets made by the children.

The class has been studying North America this term, and pupils have learned about Native American culture and the arrival of the Pilgrim Fathers.

More recently the focus has been on current events and children have been researching the issues behind the Republican and Democrat campaigns.

A vote among pupils and parents at the diner resulted in 53 for Clinton and 12 for Trump.
