A couple are hoping to reach the £10,000 mark as they continue to raise money to support bereaved parents.
Joanne and Colin Smith of Liskeard have fundraised almost £9000 for Derriford Hospital’s Snowdrop Unit since December 2017, following the loss of their baby son Fred Neale Smith.
The couple were recently invited to Plymouth to see the progress made on plans to create a specialist unit for parents who have experienced stillbirth, miscarriage or early baby loss.
‘It was a very emotional evening, but we were so glad to be involved in the Snowdrop Appeal event, as this is what all the money we have raised is going towards,’ said Joanne.
‘Fred has given us so much determination to help support others who are dealing with a loss. Our boundaries have been really tested, and some days are easier than others, but fundraising really helps give us a purpose.’
Joanne and Colin will be hosting an Easter Bingo at Dobwalls Memorial Hall today (April 13). Doors will open at 6pm for eyes down at 7.30pm.
