East Cornwall Skittles League
Tuesday saw the last 16 for the mixed four reach the final, where some very good skittling was seen. Marketeers A started very well, scoring 145 pins, followed by Sandpipers with 136 pins. Hits and Misses A scored 134 pins, while Marquee B started slowly with 127 pins.
The last eight saw Marquee B take on Edwardians A, Marquee B scored 145 pins, almost the best score of the night. Marketeers A continued their good scoring with 140 pins to Marquee A's 114 pins. Sandpipers A beat the Bulldogs Four by 129 to 120 pins.
Hits and Misses A drew Hits and Misses B, which resulted in an exciting match, with Hits and Misses A winning by 129 to 119 pins. In the semi-finals, Sandpipers A continued their good scoring and won 133 to 129 pins against Hits and Misses A and Marquee B beat Marketeer A by three pins. In the final Marquee B really came good and scored the highest of the night, 147 pins. Sandpipers A played well but never tired near the later part of the evening. In all, it was a very good evening.
Final winners- Marion, Ken and Louise Roce and Brian Lewis. Runners-up- Derek and Sheila Steeden, Alex and Sandra Joyce. Marquees B 147 pins, Sandpipers A 129 pins.
On Thursday it was the mixed pairs turn. In the top 16 pairs, Ann Crabb (Ditchers), Chris Davis (Hotshots) were top with 80 pins, followed by Gayle and Mark Pluckrose. Margaret Dungey and Terry Bray scored 78 pins.
Rose and Bernie James (77 pins), Alison Cox and Andy Batten (71 pins). Andy started off with two 17 spares. In the last eight, Hannah Parsons and Roger Terry were top with 81 pins. The top score of the night went to Gayle and Mark (70 pins) and just beat Celia Cox and Ken Keast, who scored 69 pins. Rose and Bernie also scored 70 pins and were unlucky to come up against Hannah and Roger.
Alison and Andy beat Ann and Chris by three pins, Margaret and terry beat Pat Parsons and Alan Cole by 116 pins. In the semi-final Hannah and Roger scored 72 pins against Gayle and Mark (56 pins) and Alison and Andy scored 77 pins against Margaret and Terry who scored 53 pins. In the final, Alison and Andy beat Hannah and Roger 64 pins to 61 pins.
