A PROJECT to celebrate the rich history of the Looe Valley Line is having a community drop-in day tomorrow.
Locals, passengers and railway staff are invited to bring along their memories of years gone by on the Liskeard to Looe branch line – photos, old papers, publicity material or other artefacts are very welcome.
The drop-in, from 11am to 3pm on Wednesday October 31, is at Liskeard Methodist Church Hall on Barn Street. It marks the start of the Looe Valley Line heritage project, run by the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership. Over the next six months they will be working with the community to tell the story of the Looe Valley Line and its effect on local people and the landscape.
The fruits of the project will include new interpretation boards at stations, a series of short video documentaries, a mobile phone app to act as a companion to a trip on the train and engaging schoolchildren in the history of their local railway.
