THE Merlin Neuro Therapy Centre, near St Austell, was filled with music, smiles and plenty of singing on Tuesday, July 28, as clients welcomed the Dreckly Boys for a special sing-along.

The visit was made even more memorable when the choir, who chose the centre as it’s charity for 2026, presented a cheque for £3,000 as part of their ongoing support.

This was in addition to the £1,500 which was already raised in May, bringing their fundraising total to £4,500 so far this year.

The group’s partnership with the charity is a heartfelt tribute to their friend and fellow choir member, Mike Owen, who attended the centre before his passing.

The Dreckly Boys said: "We make this commitment in loving memory of our dear friend, Mike, who sadly passed away.

"The Merlin Centre was a place close to Mike's heart. It gave him support, encouragement and a sense of belonging that meant so much to him. Throughout this year, we will raise funds and awareness in his name. Every note we sing and every event we hold will carry his memory. Because once you're a Dreckly Boy, you're family."

Led each week by therapy assistant Ash Smith, the centre's Tuesday sing-along has become a much-loved part of clients' group exercise classes.

After welcoming the Dreckly Boys for one of their most recent sessions, clients, staff and choir members joined together to sing some familiar favourites, creating an amazing atmosphere.

The visit also comes as the Dreckly Boys celebrate being named finalists in the BBC Make a Difference Awards, where they have been recognised in the Fundraiser of the Year category.

Head of income generation, Adele Carter said: "The Tuesday sing-along has become something our clients really look forward to each week. Having the Dreckly Boys join us made it even more special.

“Their support means so much to everyone and we're incredibly grateful they've chosen to honour Mike's memory by supporting the charity that meant so much to him and thank them greatly for the amazing donation they have already given us.”

The Merlin Neuro Therapy Centre, based between St Austell and Truro, provides specialist therapy and support to people living with neurological conditions and children and young people with neurodiversities.
