THE final two events of the Summer League took place last week by way of the Knock-Out Final between the Moorlanders and GAS, followed by the Captains' Fling.
In the exciting knock-out final the Moorlanders held a five pin lead in the first half which meant the end result could go either way, however, the Moorlanders showed a great second half improvement and with GAS unable to match their first half performance resulted in a 38 pin overall convincing win for Richard Haynes' team and they will now receive the Keith Richard Cup on September 9th, with Chris Rogers' GAS team settling for runners-up trophies.
Results: Moorlanders 250 pins (114+136) Neil Newman 64 pins, Adam Cowie 63 pins, Lynda Jeffery 62 pins, Richard Haynes 61 pins. GAS 212 pins (109+103) James Terrell 55 pins, Gavin Cole 54 pins, Chris Rogers 53 pins, Brenda Swinburne 50 pins.
Eight of the ten captains took part in a competition to reward the top two with some recognition for their season's work, each player was asked to bowl 12 balls to qualify for the top four places to be entered into a knock-out competition, resulting in these scores: Richard Haynes (Moorlanders) 70 pins; Zoe Raper (Gravediggers) 68 pins; Mavis Hassam (Bodmin Landers) 62 pins; Ken Couchman (Galaxy) 60 pins; Andy Hassam (Gremlins) 58 pins; Gerry Edwards (Potholers) 57 pins; Margaret Edwards (Middlers) 55 pins; Chris Rogers (GAS) 53 pins.
