The first tea dance for 2008 was held at St James Church, Torpoint, on Sunday afternoon. With probably the best turnout since the dances began, nearly 50 dancers enjoyed the afternoon, with a break for refreshments. One couple had a special reason to celebrate as it was their Ruby Wedding. Torpoint couple Fred and Veronica Bradbury married at Millbrook on February 24,1968. They celebrated with a cake and a bottle of bubbly shared with everyone. There was also reason for Reverend Jackie Johnson to celebrate as Danny Branley, a member of Bertha's Babes dance group, presented her with a cheque for £200 to help the church re-ordering fund. The event also raised £154.50 for the church. The next tea dance will take place on Sunday, March 30, at 2.30pm.
