RESIDENTS and visitors in Looe are being warned not to become alarmed if they see the unusual sight of a whale beached and in difficulty on the town's main beach on Saturday afternoon. The whale will in fact be a lifelike inflatable, which filled with water will weigh about two tonnes, and will be used in a re-flotation exercise for RSPCA officers and veterinaries under the instruction of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue organisation. Marine Life Rescue will be giving a talk and theory instruction to those involved in animal welfare at the RNLI Lifeboat Station on the seafront during the morning and the practical training in the re-flotation techniques of stranded cetaceans (whales and dolphins), moves to Looe beach in the afternoon.
