A donation has been made to Looe’s RNLI in memory of a volunteer and friend to many at the lifeboat station.
During his four decades serving with the charity, John Cuttell served in a variety of officer roles, including that of boathouse manager.
‘In the long history of the RNLI here in Cornwall, there have been those men and women who have served with outstanding loyalty and dedication to its ethos and ideals,’ said a spokesperson.
‘John Cuttell can justly be included in that distinguished number for his tireless and devoted service to the Looe station for more than 40 years.
’All the crew members and other committee members who served with John held him in very high regard as a knowledgeable, reliable and cheerful officer and friend who was always willing to help others. He will be sadly missed.’
John’s son Richard met volunteer crew and presented a cheque for £620 to crew member Victoria Thomas and RNLI chair Ann Watson.
‘Looe RNLI are most grateful for this very generous donation in John’s memory, which will be used to help fund life-saving equipment and crew training,’ the spokesperson said.
