Buckland Ath 0

Saltash Utd 0

Although a draw was probably a fair result, the Ashes' contingent will have just a slight inkling that all three points could have been attained at Homers Heath on Tuesday night.

Make no mistake, Buckland are not in second place for nothing – and any team with the likes of Anthony Lynch and Darren Vickery in their midst are going to be a good outfit.

The Bucks started the brighter of the sides, but Saltash rode the initial storm and, as the half wore on, began to exert a portion of control.

The only real open chance fell to Buckland striker Gavin Hammon, after his pace took him down the right flank before cutting inside to fire a low shot wide of the near post.

The second period saw Saltash the more dominant side, creating excellent chances to open the scoring and especially in the last ten minutes of the game.

That was when Paul Madden turned inside from the left flank to curl his shot around the diving Neil Montandon but unfortunately onto the post and out for a goal-kick.

A minute from time Carl Pender's six-yard snap-shot was turned over the bar by Montandon, and from the resulting corner Glen Palmer wasted the chance of the night by firing wide from ten yards.
