A Victorian school-room is being created for a new ‘Exhibition of Childhood’ at the Liskeard and District Museum.
Children will be able to sit at a desk to write on slates just as their ancestors did. There will even be a bamboo cane – but for display purposes only, the museum is keen to explain!
Photographs of local schools throughout the last century will be on view as will a collection of toys and games, from iron hoops and spinning tops through to Tonka toys and Ninja Turtles.
Museum chairman Hella Tovar said: ‘There is guaranteed to be something here to make anybody from 19 to 90 feel nostalgic.’
The museum says it is not too late for people to become involved. Old school pictures or any iconic toys would be welcome on loan. Items must be taken to the museum by Friday, February 5.
The display will begin on February 15. Admission is free and there will be inter-active activities.
