WE, as frequent users of the silly road scheme in Castle Street, Liskeard, agree with Mr Dutnall (Letters, 20.11.09).

Pedestrians hardly use the pavements in Castle Street because they go to the town centre through Church Street.

It is a race, sometimes, as to who gets through the new Castle Street layout first.

Cars have to mount the pavements to get through and cars have also started parking within the scheme at the Lord Eliot Hotel end.

No wonder there is no cash left to alter this silly idea when Cornwall Council throws it away on such a worthless scheme.

Yes, there has been a crash, not to mention the shunts that have happened at the Indian restaurant end.

Let's see traffic lights put into place soon, temporary if need be.

Let common sense prevail.
