THE elections for the new Looe Harbour Commission board took place last Thursday, although some people were disappointed with the low turnout. The figure released by Caradon District Council states that only 18.17 per cent of all eligible voters on the Looe electoral register took time to cast their votes. Those elected on to the board were: (greatest number of votes first) Armand Toms, 435; Dave Bond, 336; Colin Bussell, 333; Tony Edwards, 291; Mike Soady 277; Donald Webb, 264; Melvin Toms, 262; Colin Cotton, 247; John Eckersall, 245; Steven Toms, 236. The new board will come into office on November 1, while their first meeting on November 2 will decide the board's new chairman and other officers. Each new board is elected every third year, and meet monthly in the Harbour Office, Looe.
