The Torpoint Lions are to hold their charter dinner on Saturday February 5 at the Hannafore Hotel to celebrate 22 years of Lionism in the Torpoint and Rame peninsula.

During the evening Lion president, John Blythe, will present a £2,000 cheque to Monica Pearce on behalf of Heartswell. John has selected this charity as the main beneficiary during his presidential year.

The Lions' belated Christmas party was held at the 200 club in January. During this evening the president handed a £1,000 cheque to Anne Brock on behalf of the Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.

The Lions' annual senior citizens' concerts and entertainment will be held in Torpoint council hall on March 16 and 17. Lion Brian Pope is assembling a strong cast of local talent, including the Ferry Boaters. Tickets will be available from the usual sources towards the end of this month.

The annual fete with free stalls for charities and voluntary organisations will be held on April 29, while May 13 has been picked for a trip up the river to Calstock for disabled people and their carers. Plymouth Boat Cruises are laying on their large 'Plymouth Venturer' which will be leaving Torpoint ferry slipway at 2pm.
