IN U-15s Anson St Cleer lost 2-3 to Saltash Youth. On a very wet and muddy pitch both sides started well and a spectacular point blank save from Saints goalkeeper Robin Brown in the first few minutes kept Saltash at bay. St Cleer fell behind midway through the first half and conceded a second just before half time. Andrew Kevern worked the ball to Martyn Hake whose cross enabled Joel Cockings to head home Saltash's first Hake then held off a challenge to net the second.

Saints seem to come out a different team in the second half and took the game to Saltash. Saints central midfielders James Brown and Jamie Truscott were working extremely hard on a pitch that was getting increasingly difficult to play. Against the run of play St Cleer conceded an unlucky penalty which Hake converted.

Saints brought on their subs Duncan White and Kurt Marshall and sprang into life. It wasn't long before a Brown corner ended up deflected into Saltash's goal. This fired up St Cleer and with 10 minutes to go from good build up involving White and Brown, the ball fell loose in the area and the dependable Tom Clark slotted the ball home.

St Cleer's Man of the Match went to James Brown and Manager's Man of the Match to Jamie Truscott for his solid performance. St Cleer's manager Andrew Tapper praised all his players for a good fight back from 0-3 behind. Both teams and the referee should be commended for a very entertaining game in what ended up as a mud bath.

Next week St Cleer travel to W.M.O.V. k.o. at 1:00pm at Weston Mill.

SAINTS entertained Lipson Utd in Scott U-13 and lost 7-2 although the score does not reflect the way the team played.

Saints took longest to settle and found themselves 2-0 down in the early part of the game. But with the example of Jack Podmore and outstanding performance of Matthew Borlase in goal Saints regain their composure and let Lipson know they had a game on their hands when with good football from Filby and Hall sent Kitto on his way which led to new signing Oliver Matters scoring on his home debut.

It was Saints turn to put pressure on Lipson with some lovely football and were unlucky not to score an equaliser after hard work by Kitto saw his effort go just wide.

This inspired Lipson but Saints defence soaked up the pressure well with Clements playing well in his new position and with Podmore saving on the line the score ended 2-1 at half time.

The second half start saw Saints other signing Matthew Desmond coming on for the injured Ashley Davey and he made a very promising start as so did Oliver Metthers, with Desmond coming on, the midfield had to be re-arranged.

Lipson scored a third goal but Saints never let their heads drop and worked hard to try to get a goal back. But Lipson went further ahead with a well taken goal which split Saints defence wide open.

Yet again Saints battled back with Desmond, Kitto and Metthers combining well to set up Darren Hall who struck a well taken shot into the top corner. But again Saints found things not going their way and conceded another two goals. Saints were unlucky not to pull one back with Marshall and Filby working hard on the left to set up Kitto who just failed to connect..

Burchell and Sweet played their hearts out in central defence. Lipson scored their seventh in the final moments. Saints were beaten in this league match but their effort and commitment was tremendous, and are looking forward to their next match. Matthew Borlase was Managers Man of the Match for his outstanding performance. Andrew Wall the opponents.

Saltash United Juniors Under 11s beat Tavistock Jets 7-2. With only 10 players for the first 15 minutes of the game Saltash defended strongly and when up to full strength started to press back.

Ashes first goal came from Daniel Lawrence who went on to bag a further four during the game and also took Man of the Match honours.

Charles McConnell standing in for the regular keeper made some excellent saves keeping Jets tally down to two, which, considering this was his first time between the sticks, was a valiant effort.

Thomas Jane added a further goal for Ashes by capitalising on a loose ball in the box and Ryan Pearce took the tally to a magnificent seven following a good display of passing.

The rounded off a good overall team performance.
