WITH petty vandalism, street thuggery and vehicle crime now so commonplace as to be worthy of no more than a resigned sigh, I read the front of last week's Cornish Times with a sense of satisfied relief that finally we have a traffic warden who will stop at nothing to bring to heel the real criminals that bring towns like Liskeard into disrepute. I am sure readers will be relieved to know that pensioners dropping off library books and motorists stopping briefly to pop into the bank will suffer the full weight of the law such desperate criminals truly deserve. I can now sleep easily knowing that, whatever state my car may find itself in if parked along one of the thoroughfares used by drunken vandals every weekend, we have a warden who is on hand to ensure that if I park it somewhere safer it could well end up with a ticket. I hope that one day the police will also make a real effort to run to ground such disreputable felons who stay a little too long outside Greenbank Church or who have to pop into Somerfield for some milk, so our streets are clear and uncluttered for the drunks, the abusive louts, the dangerous drivers, and the vandals who make life in our town such a joy.
