Demand for EU funded computer courses in Landrake has been so great that extra courses have had to be arranged.

The courses, pioneered by Saltash college, are for the self-employed or those working for small businesses in the county, or the unemployed. Teaching takes place for 15 people at a time, over 14 weeks on a Monday and Thursday evening at Sir Robert Geffery's county primary school.

Chris Wiseman, head of adult education at the college, said: 'Response to the course has been so good that extra courses were added on Mondays, and there is a waiting list of people interested in attending new courses.'

Head of Sir Robert Geffery's county primary school, said: 'Computing skills are increasingly important and I am very pleased that local people have been able to use the facilities here to learn these skills.'

The course is part of the Caradon area LEADER 11 project, to promote development in rural economies.
