CALLINGTON recorded a much-needed victory at the expense of the side just above them at the start of play.

In damp conditions, Jim Shorten won the important toss and asked the home side to bat first. Shorten himself was the first to strike in the fourth over when he had Tom Hughes leg before. The next over saw Matt Manuel edge one to Luke Davis at first slip off Rob Harrison, reducing The Road to 17 for two.

Adam Cocking and Chris Hunkin added 52 but both fell after scoring 27, Hunkin bowled by Aidan Libby's second ball and Cocking driving one straight at Simon Beare off Luke Davis.

Chris Roberts and Matt South put on 41 with South scoring 25, but from 110 for five, Grampound Road lost their last five wickets for just 14 runs.

The main wicket-taker was Matt Robins, bowling eight overs of off spin and claiming three wickets for just five runs. Harrison returned to take three for 42 from 15.3 overs and Luke Davis bagged another three slip catches.
