Forget the 2-1 defeat at Sheffield United as another sell-out gate at Home Park for the visit of fourth-placed West Ham United tomorrow heralds three tough games in a week for the Pilgrims. Second-placed Reading are the visitors on Tuesday, with a return to league leaders Wigan Athletic next Saturday to round off a week where every point gained will be a bonus. Despite last season's relegation from the top flight, the Hammers include big names such as former Manchester United and England star Teddy Sheringham, who has already hit seven goals this season, while former Nottingham Forrest striker Marlon Harewood has scored six times. Add to that Bobby Zamora's four-goal haul, Ukranian international Sergei Rebrov, experienced England international Chris Powell, Truro-born former Spurs midfielder Matthew Etherington, Don Hutchison and the pace and flair of former Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick among others, and Argyle fans will be under no illusions about the difficult task awaiting Bobby Williamson's men. The Argyle boss should have a relatively fully fit squad available for what should be a classic encounter. Long term injuries Tony Capaldi and Hasney Aljofree are out of the frame. The only doubts could be Stevie Milne, Marino Keith and David Friio. Blair Sturrock has returned from Northampton Town without a contract, Luke McCormack is on a month's loan with Boston United and Nathan Lowndes should have recovered from a neck injury. French U21 international Matthias K Doumbe's man-of-the-match performances and the introduction to first team football of Saltash 17 year old Ryan Dickson have been a major plus for Williamson, who only has a small squad to juggle with. Argyles Reserves mid week friendly at Weymouth was called due to a waterlogged pitch. It was unfortunate news for Keith Lasley, Paul Connolly, Blair Sturrock and Stewart Yetton, who were hoping for a run out and the chance to press their first team claims. Argyle's home match with Reading on Tuesday is another difficult encounter. The Royals top scorer is Dave Kitson with eight, backed up by four from Nicky Forster. The midfield driving force is former Icelandic international Ivar Ingimarsson, who started his English league career with Torquay United. Lurking in the background is former Manchester City favourite Shaun Goater and Lloyd Owusu, both being kept out of the starting line-up by the Kitson-Forster partnership. Could there be an announcement about the restart of the redevelopment of Home Park? Chairman Paul Stapleton seems to think so. Stapleton reckons an announcement could be made before Christmas. It's strongly rumoured that Central Park could begin to look like a building site if the Mayflower Sports Centre is demolished and rebuilt on the back of Home Park, with an Olympic-sized swimming pool going on the Mayflower site. Argyle should soon have a chief executive as interviews for the post are taking place. Argyle's Scottish U16 captain Jamie Laird was due to face Wales in last night's Victory Shield international in Fife, which was shown live on Sky TV. Opposing him was Argyle's Welsh captain Ryan Moon, the first time two Argyle captains have faced each other in an international. Giant 6ft 6in Australian goalkeeper Vilson Knezevic has been training all week at Argyle. The gloveman with a Croation background returned to Australia at the end of last year to play for Melbourne Knights, after spending a number of years playing in Belgium. Scott Hills, Toby Davis and David Buckley scored in Argyle U16s 3-1 win at Bournemouth. The U18s didn't do so well against the Cherries, going down 2-1 with Jon Routledge scoring. Argyles ladies team will make their second attempt to progress to the second round of the Women's FA Cup at Elburton on Sunday, when Ashdown Rovers are the visitors for a 2pm kick off. The winners go to Oxford City in the second round. Fixtures - Coca-Cola Championship: Sat Oct 30 West Ham Utd (H) 3pm; Tues Nov 2 Reading (H) 7.45pm; Sat Nov 6 Wigan (A) 3pm.
