LISKEARD will be Tripping The Light Fantastic when the town officially lights up for Christmas on Saturday, November 28.

Organisers say the event can carry on thanks to funding from businesses and organisations – Howden’s Joinery, of Moorswater, is sponsoring the fireworks finale for the second year running.

This year’s dance theme will be reflected in illuminated lanterns which the Lights Up committee say schools, community groups and care homes are already making. Community lantern-making workshops are being held every Friday from 9.30am to 12.30pm at Liskerrett Community Centre in Varley Lane.

‘Anyone who would like to create a lantern is welcome to join in,’ said event organiser John Lennon. ‘Just wear old clothes and bring an apron. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

‘Our thanks go out to all the local businesses and organisations that make this event possible by supporting it financially,’ he added.

There will also be a Liskeard Lights Up fundraising dance night at the Eliot House Hotel on Friday, November 13.
