Plymouth and Cornish patients were among the victims of the global cyber attack that hit Britain’s NHS, it emerged yesterday.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd chaired an emergency meeting as tech experts worked to disrupt the cyber attack.

At Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, managers put out a statement yesterday morning saying: ‘Thanks to a huge team effort from staff we have minimised disruption to the hospital and have stepped down the incident.

‘Most systems are running as normal and no patients have been affected.

‘All patients are asked to attend the hospital for their appointments today and tomorrow as normal.’

A Cobra meeting yesterday afternoon came after 45 NHS organisations were caught up in the global attack which is thought to have affected 99 countries, including the US and Russia.
