Visitors flocked to get a taste of Europe when a French market came to Liskeard last week. The market, which also featured stalls from Scotland and Germany, visited on Friday and Saturday. Its aim was to promote Liskeard and try and bring in business from outside. Mark Taylor, chairman of organisers Liskeard Chamber of Commerce, said: 'It was a great success. I spoke to the market traders on Friday and they were doing a roaring trade and I imagine Saturday was the same. 'With any luck we will get them back.' Residents and visitors were treated to a taste of Scotland with stalls selling whisky, haggis and wine. French stalls included an olive stand, a market stall selling cheeses and a bread stall selling pastries and baguettes. There was also a stall selling traditional German hot dogs. The market traders approached the Chamber of Commerce asking if they could come to Liskeard and Mr Taylor admits it is something they would consider doing again. 'If they approach us then great we will do it again but it is takes a lot of organisation,' he said.
