A town is coming to terms with the death of its town crier who was killed in a car accident as he took his recalled vehicle to have a modification carried out.

Frank Beer, 83, died when his yellow Peugeot 107 was in collision with a silver Freelander on the A30 near Lewannick, Launceston. Tributes have flooded in for Mr Beer who had been the town crier for Liskeard since December 1995.

His son, Timothy, told the Cornish Times: 'He was a go-getter. If there was something going on in society he was there at the front. He lived life to the full – he loved Liskeard town, he loved the town council and he loved the Cornish Times.'
